Meet our Coaches
COLTON SCHALK - VARSITY HEAD COACH
Head Coach Colton Schalk is a 2014 graduate of Ladue High School and a proud alum of the Rams hockey program. He has been coaching since 2019 and took over as head coach in 2023. In 2021, he was an assistant coach behind the bench as the Rams won the Wickenheiser Cup Championship. Colton played college hockey at Saint Louis University and brings a mix of competitive experience and hometown pride to the bench. Off the ice, he lives in University City with his wife, Carlee, and their daughter Rory, born in February, 2025.

Jared Balint - JV Head Coach
Jared Balint serves as the Head Coach for the Ladue Rams JV hockey team. A USA Hockey Level 5 certified coach and former player, Jared brings decades of experience as both a player and coach. He’s led athletes across all ages and skill levels, with a passion for pushing players to compete at their highest potential. Off the ice, Jared enjoys spending time with his wife Kelly and their two sons, Brendan and Sean—both proud Ladue Rams and new boxer puppy Bucky. If not with his family, you can also find Jared golfing, playing guitar and co-hosting a youth hockey podcast alongside his good friend Drew Acree.
